Our Story
Independent...
Argyll was formed in 1991 out of the broking arm of Citibank in the City of London. In the 1990's we acquired two businesses that had served Sussex since the 70's. Worthing based Bainton Smith was purchased in 1995, and Brighton based Sharp & Partners in 1999. Subsequently, we have also expanded into Kent with the acquisitions of long established Herne Bay Broker Pharon Insurance, Sittingbourne based Edward Jones Gillingham Insurance Broker and Financial Advisers, Walker Satterford and Maidstone Insurance Broker, Palmar Avard and Galloway. Now a multi-million pound business, Argyll continues to grow year on year, building upon a reputation for high quality customer service and a will to remain truly independent.
In 2008, Argyll became part of the Jelf Group, one of the leading independent insurance, financial and healthcare intermediaries in the UK. Through the Jelf Group, Argyll clients now have access to experienced professionals in healthcare, employee benefits, commercial finance and wealth management. This enables our clients to benefit from our ability to take a holistic view of their business, understand their unique requirements and develop integrated solutions.
Argyll Financial Services who are a trading name of Jelf Financial Planning and Argyll Insurance Services are both part of the Jelf Group and are Authorised and Regulated by the Financial Services Authority.
