Argyll NUMBER 1 business in Worthing...

Saturday 6th October 2007

Argyll Insurance Group has been recognised as Worthing’s Medium to large Business of the Year. Hosted at Worthing’s Pavilion Theatre, the very first Worthing Business Awards were organised by Worthing First and sponsored by Carpenter Box Chartered Accountants. 250 people attended to celebrate and honour the “sheer hard work, talent and determination of the very best businesses in Worthing”.

Winners were selected from a shortlist which included brand new micro businesses, charity organisations and new technology companies, right through to restaurants and established retailers. What was unusual about these awards was that the winners were voted for by those who matter the most to them, their customers.

Argyll Chairman Kevin Young commented ‘It is fantastic to be recognised and rewarded in this way. It is testament to all of our staff, whom I believe go that extra mile to deliver exactly what our customers require’.

BBC Southern Counties Radio Presenter Ian Hart acted as the Master of Ceremonies and Host whilst the Mayor of Worthing, Councillor Dr. Heather Mercer was the Guest of Honour.

In total the winners of fifteen awards were announced, with one company winning in not one but two categories. Geoff Bullen, founder and Chairman of GB Electronics and his team won Worthing Business of the Year Award and the Small Business of the Year Award and put it all down to his ‘incredible team of very clever people’.

Summing up the night, Dr. Mercer said: ‘When you see the sheer creativity and dedication of the business community in Worthing it makes you proud to live in this town. We have real talent in our business community and, through their contribution to our economy, the possibility of building a strong and positive future for the next generation is guaranteed’.
